Legoland Discovery Centre

On Thursday we went on a trip with our homeschool group to the Lego Centre. It just opened at the beginning of March and Eli has been counting the days down until our trip for what seems like forever!

On a ride that the kids thought was so fun - me, not so much...Immy was too young to ride alone so I had to go with her. The only way that you could keep your 'car' high in the air was to peddle like a lunatic. My legs were killing me. I haven't ridden a bike for years!

they had a demonstration of how lego is made

Collecting giant lego's for the lego slide

Working as a team to build a tower

Testing their teams tower on the earthquake table....it passed!

Meanwhile Immy played with lego animals!

In miniland - downtown Toronto

Lego baseball!

Lego Niagara falls

Immy making cupcakes at the Lego Friends House

Doing her usually happy face!

As soon as we got home Eli started creating a cable car like the one he saw at Legoland of Niagara falls. He made it with no help!

And lastly from earlier in the week. Eli dressed as a librarian (lol) and Immy as superhero Joe, whoever he may be.

Last few days...

The countdown has begun! I think we've crossed off 4 days now!

Eli has been saving his allowance for ages now to get some lego. On friday we went to the Lego shop to let him spend his money and get his lego. I said Immy could have a toy too of a similar value since she doesn't get an allowance so she dragged me around toys r us pointing out things that she would like that I knew would get neglected after a day. It occurred to me that there was a 'build a bear' in the mall and I convinced her that we should go and make her very own teddy bear (didn't take much convincing!) She picked out a white bear and took it to the lady to get stuffed - here she is below pressing the stuffing foot pedal. I was so proud of her as she walked up the lady and said "Hi I'm Imogen" the best bit was that the lady said "hi Imogen" - most people here have no idea how to say her name.

Rubbing the bears heart on her head for brains and tummy for love before she puts it inside her bear

Giving the bear it's heart!

Of course the bear (named Wooshy by the way) had to have a 'ballerina' dress and shoes!

trying on shoes while waiting for Daddy!

Happy girl sleeping with her new bear (who took her ballerina dress off to go to sleep!)

Playing with Easter stickers for the window

Shopping with me in Walmart! Doesn't she look delighted to be there! Check out the bag of milk...yep I still hate bagged milk!

My super smart boy reading to me while I was making lunch. He is reading a biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder (author of the 'Little House' books) We have bought the series on CD and have been listening to them in the car. He is obsessed with the books now and it has sparked discussions and projects on many different subjects - in particular Pioneer life and Indians!

And here he is building his weekly lego challenge - a building that is really tall!

Ballerina

Mondays the kids have Dance (Immy) and Drama (Eli) at a performing arts academy. Here is my little ballerina all ready for dance. Each week they do a different type of dance and her favourite is tap, followed by ballet! Today Eli brought home his first script. He's so excited, they are doing a play in a couple weeks. He is taking the line learning very seriously. We have already practiced about 3 times since we got home today!

Rosy cheeks

Immy has had a cold this week and lately it seems the minute she gets sick she gets bright red cheeks!

At the weekend I was buying her some clothes and she begged for a cowgirl hat instead of clothes!

Eli is going through a batman phase and Immy is usually wonder woman!

Eli has been reading a book about the different 'ages' this was a lego creation of a picture thats in the book. It's huts and caves and walls to guard the 'camp'.

Rosy girl with  her new tshirt and turtle from Nana and Papa.

We went for a walk today along a trail that runs alongside the Holland River. Both children spent a good half hour bashing the ice in the marshy areas with sticks. Eli said it was the most fun he had ever! Guess we'll be going back before the ice melts!

Being silly!

She still likes to be naked all the time if possible!

I have lots and lots of self portraits by Immy just like this!

Below is Lake Simcoe at Barrie. It was frozen over and the little dots all over it are snowmobilers.

Designing and painting their own t-shirts

It was nice a nice sunny day on Wednesday and a lovely -1 degrees (finally)

Growing Immys fringe out...

Walking home from our walk...it may be sunny but we have enough snow to last us a long while!

Our house!

Downtown Toronto yesterday. They have ALOT less snow than we do! Was nice to see grass for a change!

Immy and her dolly at church this morning!

Mickey Mouse

Immy drew a picture today and told me it was Mickey Mouse! Isn't she clever?! She spends ages colouring these days!
