Not too big to play at the mall!

Learning

Eli has been writing for a while but until recently wouldn't write anything unless I spelled it for him (he is a total perfectionist and HATES to get anything wrong) but just this last few days he has started to feel more confident I guess in what he's doing and has started to attempt it on his own. It's so cute. The top one says 'stop speeding' altho it actually says'speeding stop'! The other one says helmet and he got boat right.

Campfire

Eli made this campfire at beavers last week. He is so proud of it! He is using the phone to pretend he is roasting marshmallows!!

Frozen Yoghurt at the mall

We were at the mall on Friday and Eli reminded me that I promised he we could try the new Frozen Yoghurt place next time we were at the mall. Hate it when he has such a good memory as I just wanted to get home but a promise is a promise lol! A few minutes after this picture was taken Imogen got up from her seat (as fast as lightening) and ran across the mall to a clothes shop on the other side, through the shop and all the way to the back changing rooms. She had no idea where I was at all and she didn't care. I left Eli sat there while I darted off to find her. I was so annoyed with her and told her off and she just says "I'm so sorry mummy" in her sweetly little 'I'm an angel' voice! She is such a monkey. Never letting her out of the stroller again!!

No sealions!

We went out to Nanoose (Beachcomber Beach) today as my friend had been out last weekend and there was Sealions all over the rocks. They come every year for the Herring Spawn. They stay a few weeks to feed and then keep going on their trip South. They are still at some of the other beaches in Nanaimo but had gone from this one. I'm pleased we went though anyway as we've never been out there and it's probably one of the best beaches that I've been to in Nanaimo. It was a bit of land that sticks out (what the heck is that called?!) and one side was a beach which was where we went. This was the calmer side and then the other side was rocks that we could have walked down on to but it was so windy and the waves on that side were wild, probably a good 10-15 feet high.  I would have liked to go down there but the kids were actually a bit freaked out. It was so loud with the wind and the waves. We'll have to go back and bring daddy next time he is home.

Pancakes and Parks!

We had beautiful sunshine again today and no school for Eli this morning so we headed to the harbour front. Eli and I used to spend so much time there before we had Imogen and we really haven't in the last few years. I'm not sure why but probably as it was a bit difficult with the stroller. Now she's old enough to let loose without her stroller and (for the most part) listens to me when I say no or call her away from something (or don't knock the Inukshuks over...remember that one dad!) so today we spent a few hours down there watching the planes, walking down on the docks and looking at the fishing boats, playing in the park and running up and down the hills. Finishing with a performance by the two of them in the bandstand which I forgot to get pictures of! I will really miss it when we move. It's one of the places I love most in Nanaimo. The little boat over to Newcastle Island starts running again in April and Eli was hoping today that we will still be here (guaranteed we will!) so that we can have a trip over there. I hope so too!

Anyway here are some photos including our pancake breakfast! I can NEVER make pancakes well (which is why we have a waffle maker instead) and was so excited that every single one turned out that I had to take a photo!!

Pancakes (Canadian style) for breakfast. 2 days late for pancake Tuesday but at least it was the right week!

Eli Flying!

Watching planes take off.

Look at Imogens face! I think she was in shock that she was winning a race between her and Eli lol.

Climbing hills!

Rare sunny day!

Was so sunny today so we went to the park gor some running around, bike riding and playing. So nice to get outside.

First time on skates!

At the moment Eli's school are doing a weekly family skate. Last week Eli and I wore skates and I pushed Imogen in the stroller. This week she insisted on wearing skates. I got them on her and she wandered around in them no problem, I told her it would be slippery on the ice but dhe still insisted. She lasted about 10 mins. She was actually quite good but got herself too freaked out. She didn't want to part with the skates though and screamed the place down when I gave them back so she could go in the stroller!! We'll try again next week!!

45 cards later...

Eli (and david and i!) made thumbprint heart cards for his school valentines party. He wrote his name and his friends name on every single one! Last year I had a hard time getting him to write 8 cards for preschool friends!

Waiting for daddy

At the airport. Imogen literally copies every single thing that Eli does!

Can't forget Imogen

She had to show me her teeth too!! She let me braid her hair today 💗

Lost tooth number 2

Quite literally lost as he must have swallowed it while eating dinner however he was heartbroken so we 'found' it in the sink (lil piece of something white that looked surprisingly tooth like!)

Passing another level

Eli was so excited yesterday as he passed swim kids 3. Usually he repeats a level once before passing but this time he passed first session. He was so hopeful yesterday before his lesson that he would pass and all day I was trying to avoid his disappointment by saying "well you know how hard it is and usually it takes 2 goes to pass etc".
So today at school he tells the whole class " my mum thought I would never pass but I did" lol - way to make me look like a bad mum!!

Scared?

Imogen has recently become extremely freaked out about me changing her bum on the change table at Eli's school. She screams that she doesn't want to fall off but really I think she's screaming because this is the picture on the change table...
