Another clever Immy post!

She sat down today and said "I'm just writing my name"! I've never really worked on writing letters with her at all she has just done this from memory seeing the letter written down!

Obsessed with counting

Immy is into counting everything right now. Yesterday at target she took an entire collection of 'little petshop' boxes and put them along the floor to count them!! This was only half! Thank goodness it wasn't busy! (Alternate title could be "what happens when you're busy texting your sister and not paying attention to your children!")

Earth Day

So Eli announced this morning that after schoolwork we had to go to the park to pick up garbage because today is earth day. I have to admit I wasn't exactly super keen to do this but I could hardly say no could I?! So off we went after lunch to pick up garbage. I was very good at pointing to it on the ground to help the kids pick it up lol!!! It was nice and sunny so afterwards we stayed for a couple hours and the kids played at the park, rode their bikes and played "bike shop" played a game of batman and Wonder Woman and rolled down the hill!
Nice to have some better weather!

This week at the science centre...

They had a creation station with every supply you can imagine to make shoes (or something else if you chose). Immy and I made a shoe, or was it a slipper...Eli made a bird house.

Black eyes

As you probably know by now we've been reading (well listening to actually) the 'Little House' books. In the book that we're currently listening to 'By the Shores of Silver Lake' the eldest daughter Mary gets Scarlett fever and loses her sight. It's a big part of the story and it has obviously made an impact on Imogen, as today she drew this picture and told me she had coloured the eyes black because the people were blind and couldn't see anything! She really amazes me every day!!

We have sun!!

Ok so it not hot by any means - you can tell since the kids are still wearing hats but it is sunny and not snowing, raining or icy!! We made the most of it this morning by going to the park. There is a little woods next the play area which they prefer playing in than the actual park. The friends that we went with have also recently read the 'little house' books so all 5 of then spent the entire time playing 'Little house in the big woods'! I love seeing kids getting dirty and playing with mud, sticks, trees etc and inventing their own games! So much fun :-)

A week in April

Snow and Ice in mid April. So fun....NOT.

I had a headache so Eli made me a sign! If only....

The kids' current obsession in the 'Little House' series. We've been listening to the books in the car. All games centre around Little house lately. Eli plays 'Pa', and Immy plays 'Laura'. It's exactly the kind of games I love them playing! They play horses or hunting or just act out parts of the book! I love it. They picked out these hats for their dress up box this week...not sure Immy's is quite of the time (Late 1800's!) but she likes it!

Eli's 'Pa' hat and his nerf gun for hunting wild animals!

On Friday Immy picked out her own clothes! Oh I have such a hard time letting her go out like this but I think it's important to let her know she has choices (sometimes lol) She thought she looked perfect!

Eli couldn't find his apron when he was baking so he made his own!

Getting closer! Only 3 weeks to go :-)

Cuddles

On the rare night that David gets home from work and the kids are still up they go mental climbing all over him and hanging off him!

At Old Navy today...

Best Lego challenge

Eli's Lego challenge this week was to create something that made a good shadow. The focus should be more on how the shadow looks than the Lego structure. As soon as I read the challenge he darted off to his room shouting "I have the perfect idea" then he came downstairs with his cross and said "this is the cross that Jesus died on".

Never ending winter

I came into the lounge earlier today to find both kids eating their snacks, squished together and leaning on the patio doors. I asked why they were sat like that instead of sitting at the table or on a couch.... Their answer... It's nice to sit in the sun. That is how bad it is here folks...Even my poor Children are desperate for a bit of warmth and sun! Don't be fooled by how bright it looks outside because it was blowing a gale (the kind of gale that you race from the house to the car its so windy and cold) and the temp on my phone said "2 degrees - feels like -5". Oh yes my poor children have to get their spring thru the window. Roll on summer... It sure better make up for 7 months of winter!

Easter Sunday and the science centre

At the top of the stairs ready to do their Easter egg hunt!

We went for a bike ride in the afternoon

And a cold play at the park

This morning we went to the science centre again

During the week they have mini classes for kids (all the homeschoolers lol) today's project was to make an object that was long enough and strong enough to grab the scientists missing shoes that the beaver had hidden in his den! Immy just taped about fifty random things together with no thought at all and hers worked first time! Eli put alot of thought into his and had to make a few adjustments but he got there in the end!

In the 'rainforest'

having a little rest at the kids play area!
